Memories Q4
The most common thing that comes to my mind when anyone says or talks
about poems is love poems. Poems can be about anything that you like, but the
most used subject is love. There are all different types of way to talk about
love, weather it talks about hearing a voice or having memories of what you once
had. In the two poems “Remember” by Christina Rossetti and “Your Voice” by
Francisco Aragon, they both talk about love in the different ways it offers.
You can just be listening to
another person voice to feel that something can happen in the future. But with
the other kind is that you had a relationship but reminding yourself of what
you had and trying to move on. In these two poems they are different but
similar at the same time, both talking about love in the different ways.
In the poem “Remember” Christina is talking about remembering the
memories and becoming sad but moving on then remembering again. In the beginning
she seems that she is asking if he remembers her going far away when he couldn’t
hold her by the hand. “Remember me when no more day by day.” She is talking
about remembering the memories that they aren’t together anymore. When it comes
to breakups everyone remembers the memories of what they went though. It could
be bad memories or good memories. In the poem she wants him to remember the
things that they went through, telling him that he will move on, but latter on
becoming sad.
“Amazing the mood it’s put me in.” Francisco starts out with the mood that
he feels with the sound of the one voice. He talks about how he feels when he
hears her voice. He doesn’t care about the busy city, the beach, or having
lunch, all he cares about is her voice. “It’s hearing you what pulls me in.”
hearing the voice of the girl that has the Dublin tone can pull him into being
in to her. He talks about when they talk later at night, on the phone and still
listening to her voice he enjoys.
With the two poems they are different. In the poem “Your Voice” it talks
about a date that they are just talking. He has a great mood when he hears her
voice. He doesn’t pay any attention to the busy city life that goes on around
them; all he cares about is listening to her. On the other hang the poem
“Remember” it talks about what happens after a break up. Remembering what
happened, trying to move on but then remembering and becoming sad. When she says
if he remembers all the plans that they had in the future would make him think
of really what they had. With both of the poems talking about the amazing mood
it can put you in, into something that you can become sad of the memories.
There are all different types of poems that talk about love. Francisco

different poems. Love can come in many different ways of moods that you can feel
in the begging to the end of the relationship. What can you take from these two
amazing poems? It can be from the first time meeting, to the memories that you

State Q3
This past term Dance Company had the chance to take part in
state for the first time. We were all excited to take part in one of the most
interesting experience that we will have in dance. I remember all the hard work
that we put into the two dances that we were going to show. All of us were ready
to show our talent to other schools and most of all the judges. When we walked
into the high school that it was at we could already see all the different
schools from all around Utah. Seeing each school’s with their hair and makeup
done, showing that they are ready for the performance and their costumes showing
the characteristic of the dance. We already know that we would have to work are
hardest.
When it was our turn to perfume in front of the judges we were all
nervous; going over and over through our minds so we don’t mess up on the stage.
When we listen to the music of the
other dances we would already know what type they were dancing to. Songs can
tell you or give you the idea of what dances you would like to choreograph to.
After we were done performing for the judges we all had the feeling that we did
an amazing job.
After the day went by all the schools got together to see what rewards
they earned and to see the other dances.

the different styles of dance, and if it tells you a story in it. Having the
lighting help show you the effects of the music and dance. Having that emotion
can help you have more ideas of what you want to do when you go back to
practices. It was a great experience for the team and to see what other high
schools talents are.

Hazing Bringing Danger to High Schools 3Q
Have you ever seen someone in high school be hazed? Hazing has become one of the most dangerous things in high schools across America. Parents want their kids to be safe when they join a sports team and other group activities when they go to high school. Hazing is getting more dangerous to schools across America. Parents and school councils want to know what is hazing?, why does it happen in high school’s athletic groups?, and how can we stop this from happening?
Hazing is the humiliating way to be in in the athletic team or in a group. Kevin Bushweller says, “Hazing is the practice of seasoned seniors intimidating, humiliating, or physically punishing younger recruits as a rite of passage.” The older team mates want to show the younger kids that they’re the ones in charge of everything. Hazing is not always an abuse of the freshman- senior relationship. (Captain Andrew Wilcox). Either way the students can be badly hurt physically and emotionally.
Most of hazing happens in the high schools athletic group. Captain Andrew Wilcox tells people, “Hazing capitalizes on an individual’s need to feel that he or she is part of a larger whole.” The team mates want to know if the new athletes are good enough to go through anything. They would have to show that they are a part of the team. A band member at Taylor High in Norfolk have endured painful “beat downs”. (Matthew Bowers.) Students shouldn’t put people in danger no matter what it is. If they made the team that should be good enough to show that they can work hard for what they want to be.
What can we do to prevent this from happening to other students? Coaches can go over the rules to an anti-hazing to the team .Have the teams do meetings and have an activity to help bring the team together. (Michael Alison Chander.) Teams would become closer to each other to trust the other players. With all of their talents they can all put it together and would become more of a powerful team to beat. Kevin Bushweller also says that “Having bonding rituals, such as rock climbing.” You can do simple thing to bind the team and it could be lots of fun.
In closing, hazing hitting high schools is very dangerous to students. School boards and principals are trying to make high schools safer. At the same time it should be the school board to help, it should also be the coaches and the team mates. THE SCARLET LETTER 1Q
I felt horrible for what I did. I wouldn’t know that this would happen to me. I felt that my heart has been flung from my chest onto the street to have it trampled on by everyone in the village. I felt alone when I walked out into the open of the prison door, earing everyone talk gossip about me. When I would look down at my baby I felt peace, at the same time I would see the scarlet letter. Yet it was so beautiful embroidered in gold. Still showed people for the horrible sin I did. Most of the village wanted me dead for what I did. When the guard told me that we now have to go to the market place I felt ashamed to know that the whole village would talk. People would turn their heads to see the letter on my bosom. Now the only important thing in my life would be my baby, that I hold so tightly, and me. I never felt so alone. I thought he loved me and would be there for me. I guess I would face this all alone.
Today I was now free to go anywhere I want. But yet something inside me wanted to stay in Boston. I now live in my own little cottage just outside of town, it nice and peace full out here. Having time to think and clear my mind. Yet I feel that people are still talking about me and the sin I did. When I wouldn’t be thinking or done everything for the day, I would just sew. People in the village still say that I have excellent sewing skills. When I feel alone I would always sew something. Even though I was outside of the village I would still wear the letter on my bosom. I’m starting to believe that the letter would give sinful and immoral feelings in other people.
Lately I have been hearing people talk about taking my beautiful Pearl away from me. I think about when she does play by herself I can hear her talk to someone when I know her using her imagination. I feel horrible that she couldn’t have anybody to play with. Now I have to make gloves for the governor. When I got to the governor mansion, Pearl and I saw that there was a group of men that were coming down the hall. I prayed that they wouldn’t take my daughter away from me.
Now I have come to realize that Chilingworth, as he was leaving, that never cared about me. He wasn’t there for me when I was shamed in front of the whole village. He was never there for Pearl. Pearl is now old enough to ask questions about the letter. She wants to know what it means and why do I have to wear it. She too young to know, sometimes I feel that she should know and understand what really happened. Whenever she would ask I would threaten her for putting her in the dark closest.
I have been thinking to leave Boston with Dimmesdale. I would have a life of a women again and wouldn’t have to worry about the Scarlet A on my bosom. He would be there with his daughter Pearl and me. Now Pearl is still asking me questions about the procession and ask if the minister would acknowledge us like the midnight scaffold. I quiet her with saying that we she shouldn’t call out for Dimmesdale. When we went to the market I found out that there was a company going to Europe. That would be the perfect time to run off and start all over again.

More Excited About Reading 1Q
What would you like to do better? Read a book that you enjoy or go out and hang out with friends? At first for me I would rather hang out with friends, I would always say to my parents that reading was useless and don’t need it when I get older, my parents knowing that I would need to read every day would still teach me. I was wrong when it was my fist time to read in front of the class. I remember stuttering after every other word, when I went out to recess all my friends would make fun of me. Later in the years, I would go in the hallway to see if my reading has progress or not. I would always be behind on reading. When the teacher would ask if I would like to read in the class I would always say no, I was too afraid that my other classmates would make fun at me just like before.
When I would go hang out with my cousin she would always talk about books that she had read that pass week. She would tell me the stories and a quick summary of them. She gave me some books that I would enjoy; she encouraged me to read them once I got home. Whenever I would get home I would always forget to read. I was always being hanging out with my friends thinking that I would be okay if I didn’t read.
When I got into Jr. High I hated it. I hated that I was put into a class that made you read all the time so that you can read on the grade level you were at. I would always ask if I can switch out of that class. My teacher told me, “There’s only one way to get out of this class that way is to read on your reading level.” Those where words that I didn’t want to hear. I was thinking about other ways I can get out of that boring class, then it hit me, I should read more books. When I thought about this I went to go talk to my reading teacher, she was always there for me if I had any troubles with finding a book that I would enjoy. She would always ask of how I like the book and what happened in it. At the end of the year I went from a third grade reading level to a sixth grade reading level. My teacher was so happy about my big jump in reading.
When that year was over I had a new English class. I had more confidence in me to read out loud to the class, but there was also something that was difficult for me doing. That was writing papers. I was horrible in my grammar and creating sentences. Luckily she would teach the class from the beginning and would take her time and energy into making sure we would get everything she was saying. When she would give us a writing assignment I would always get a bad grade on it. She was concerned about this knowing that when I get into high school that it would be very important for me knowing how to write a good assignment. She would always have me come up to her desk every morning and would help me on the things that I would need help with. I still had that feeling that I wasn’t good enough to do anything, she help me changed that. I remember having a test that I scored very low on, when she saw the troubles that I had she talks to me saying that I would have to put in some effort and know that I can do it. After that moment I would always think of new ways that I can help myself into believing that I can do it.
Later on in the year we took that very same test, this time it was going to affect are grade and be put on my school file. When I got the score back my teacher was so excited for me that I got my first A on the writing test. She taught me that I can do anything if I have confidence in myself. She was so happy for me that she gave me extra credit in her class; everyone would ask me how I did it, how did I go from failing a class that I barely got any information from to knowing what I’m doing and how to do it the right way. I would think it because of my teacher and all the things that she has taught me.
The next year was my last year in Jr. High. When I went into English having more confidence in myself, I knew that I would enjoy that class. My teacher knew that I have troubles in the class earlier on the years. He thought that they were babying me that they weren’t challenging me enough. He would give us hard assignment to work harder. When I would ask help he would tell me a couple of things then said I was on my own for the rest. Thanks to my other teachers I already knew how to do it and do a good job at it. He would try to challenge me to see if I can do it under pressure, knowing that I will need it the nest year when I go to high school. I would work hard to show him that I can do it and to know that I can work even harder at the end of the year. When Taylorsville High came down to make are new schedules. He said that I should go into honors English. I would never think that I would be in honors English; he told me that I deserved to be in that class. I went home excited to tell my parents about my great improvement over the years. They were happy that now I enjoy reading and writing.
Thanks to those three teachers that would change the way I see in reading. They all took time out of their lives and made sure that I knew something new that would help me in the years ahead of me. I felt more confidence in me, knowing that I can try new things and to know that hanging out with friends can wait. Now what would you like to do better? Tiger on the Lifeboat 2Q
If you were stranded on a lifeboat would you want a tiger on it with you? For Pi it was a good thing that Richard Parker was on the lifeboat. Why should it be a good thing? Well it is a good thing that the tiger was on the lifeboat because it kept Pi busy, he had someone to talk to, and gave Pi the adventure that he will never forget.
When Pi was on the lifeboat he still kept himself busy no matter what. In the book, on page 240 it shows what he did every day of what he did. Without the part of finding Richard Parker his breakfast and dinner Pi would have less to do, and the worry of Richard Parker eating him. But he made sure that he was feed every day to keep himself busy.
Pi was all alone, no human to talk to. All he had was Richard Parker. On page 295, Pi has seen a ship. With all of his excitement he talks to Richard Parker telling him the good news. Without Richard Parker there, he would just look like a crazy person talking to himself.
When Richard Parker ran off into the forest, after finding land, it gave Pi the memory of what adventure he had to go through with Richard Parker. In the beginning of the book, on page 7. He is talking to the reporter of how he will never forget, how Richard Parker would always be with him and how much he misses him. Without Richard Parker he wouldn’t have the same memory as he does now.
Even though with a man eating tiger on a lifeboat it can be a bad thing. To take care of a tiger you would have to give it food. When Pi was running low on food and water he had to hide it in a locker. He would have to keep a close eye on Richard Parker so that Pi could have food for himself. Every day he would have to find different things for Richard Parker to eat. Otherwise he would be Richard Parker’s next meal.

This past December I went to go see the ballet west in The
Nutcracker. Listening to the wonderful music and watching the beautiful dancers
are just always fun. Without the wonderful music it just wouldn’t be the same.
Every year I have the opportunity to go see this ballet and every time it would
surprise me of how different it is from the past year. When they have different
dance moves they would always have different music or sound effects.
Before the curtain goes up to start the ballet, the conductor would enter
with everyone clapping. When the strings would start to play I could see
everyone listening to the joyful sound. When the curtain went up I could see
that the music help put the dances in the right character mood. You can see by
the dances and music what they are doing and both work perfectly together.
Whenever the dancers would mess up or would have to know what their next lift
is, the music is always there for their help.
